This bed is designed to accommodate a bunkie board and mattress, not a box spring and mattress. You can order one of our bunkie boards, or supply one of your own. We also would to make you aware that we are meticulous when it comes to conforming with national safety standards for our bunk beds. Because of our safety-conscious design if you order any bunk bed with a larger bed on the bottom you'll need to slide your top mattress into place instead of setting it down directly from the top.
